I was just thinking the other day about how great movies about music are. I love films hat namedrop indie bands into their dialogue and feature obscure concert posters as part of their production design. A movie that can its characters debate the merits of Jesus Lizard and The Cure without batting an eye or seeming pretentious is golden to me. I just can't get enough. Sure, Zach Braff gave us the Shins, but there are other great examples of movies that are as much about the soundtrack as what's happening on screen.
Here are my favorites:
1.) Almost Famous
2.) Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist
3.) High Fidelity
4.) 24 Hour Party People
