People hate on Coldplay.....

all the damn time. But this is just cool/funny:

Beastie Boys couldn't make it to All Points West due to Adam Yauch being diagnosed with cancer, so Chris Martin took it upon himself to play a song in homage to the Beasties. Pretty cool.

Jay-Z, who filled in for them in the headlining slot, opened his set with his own tribute:

I've never really liked Jay-Z, but this was also pretty cool.

These videos are all over the music blogosphere today, of course, but I felt the need to further their presence on the Web with a post of my own.

Oh, in other news, apparently the amazing-in theory supergroup consisting of Dave Grohl, John Paul Jones, and Josh Homme is named Them Crooked Vultures. Badass. There's a website up now, but with nothing other than an e-mail sign up list.

This should be pretty earth-shattering when the group puts out some tunes....if not I will be severely disappointed. But with Dave involved, I'm sure it's nothing short of amazing.

owwwwwwwwww. i'm a terrible singer... but--and im referring to the audience for the Chris Martin video--people that are that tonedeaf shouldn't be allowed to sing in public.
