Top 5 Bands with Punctuation in Their Names

Happy Tuesday!

In celebration of a day that only comes once a week, here's a list of my 5 most favorite bands that use punctuation marks in their name. Enjoy.

1. Does it Offend You Yeah?

Saw these crazy fools at Coachella - their set was high energy and James Rushent was wearing an inexplicable polka-dotted tunic. (photo by me - you're welcome)

2. Antarctica Takes It!

Pretty much no one knows about this band, but they have a really simple folk-driven sound, something akin to Sufjan Stevens or My Brightest Diamond. Plus, who doesn't love Antarctica?

3. Godspeed You! Black Emperor

One of the greatest days of my life would be if this band ever decides to come off of "indefinite hiatus." They're one of the first great orchestral post-rock bands - one that always put musical theory before pure loudness.

4. Why?

Freak folk at its best. Pure and simple.

5. !!!

My favorite thing about this band, besides their absolutely manic sound is that you can pronounce their name any way you damn well want to. According to the band, the most common pronunciation is Chk, Chk, Chk, but it can really be the pronunciation of any three monosyllabic sounds…so have fun with that.

Honorable Mention: Thunderbirds Are Now!, 3OH!3

Panic! At the disco

lyn - thanks for the correction. must have been on too much acid and E at the time…

also, panic! at the disco works except that they're now called Panic at the Disco. They lost awesomeness points when they lost the punctuation from their name.
