It's TRUE! Scissors for Lefty will be among the amazing collection of bands who will fill the direct support slot for The Smashing Pumpkins upcoming stints in North Carolina and San Francisco. The band recently announced that they will release four versions of their latest record, leading their fans on a wild goose chase all over town to get every last track! You'll be able to catch live performances of those songs at these shows tonite and tomorrow in Asheville, NC at the Orange Peel!
If you're in town, enjoy the show! And if not, listen to this
Scissors for Lefty's own Bryan Garza (and brother Steve) have been busy playing shows with the rest of the band, including last week's Los Angeles record release party at the Knitting Factory. We'd like to thank our friends at KXLU, Losanjealous and imeem to helping us put on the main event! They took a minute out of their schedule to talk to Mikey at Fresno's Dorktown Podcast and they've posted this interview for all of you to enjoy:
To all those who made it, thanks for coming! If you missed it, you missed a great time! But there will be some more chances to catch the guys in the future, so keep your eyes peeled and keep checking the Scissors for Lefty website for up to date tour info!
Hey folks! Great Northern are on a roll, playing Boston tonite, NYC tomorrow and Brooklyn on Friday including some stops off to record TV appearances, an in-store at Brooklyn's own Sound Fix on Friday at 7 and a few other surprises along the way. Don't worry, we'll keep you informed here!
In the meantime, here's a sampling of the photos from this weekend's NXNE show with Urge Overkill provided for us by our friend Frank Yang over at Chromewaves who was kind enough to post a review of the show as well!
We're on the road and we're keeping you up on all things Eenie Meenie!! Keep checking back for more audio, video and pictures from our special events! This week we're in Visalia with Division Day! Check out their show in L.A. with The Fratellis Saturday, June 16th at the Avalon. More to come soon!
Okay, admit it, aside from loving Great Northern's music, you have a crush on one of them. It's okay, we won't tell! But, just to tease you, we do have some brand new, fabulous photos from a Great Northern show - none other than the Troubadour show last week with Loney, Dear. It was a lot of fun! Click on Ashley below to see some more beautiful shots from Akmal Naim (a friend of our friend Paul from Hate Something Beautiful):
The band is now on the road, wowing crowds in Minneapolis, Chicago, Toronto, and more! Check their tour dates to see if they're hitting your town.
Scissors For Lefty have some massive shows coming up as well, including the main stage at Live 105's BFD this Saturday (Kaiser Chiefs, Interpol, Queens of the Stoneage, Bloc Party). And of course next Wednesday at The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, we'll be celebrating the release party for Underhanded Romance! When you have a second, go vote for them to be on the Milwaukee Summerfest CD from Sonicbids; they'll be at Summerfest in July, proving once again that "Milwaukee rocks!" (Oh wait, that's Cleveland.)
Here's a live clip from Live 105's in-studio session with Scissors For Lefty, just for fun. This is "X's Are Forever":
